Welcome to Barneskikursene 2025!

Barneskikursene will be held on January 18.-19. and January 25.-26. at Gråkallen Skileik and the area around Skistua. There are a total of 4 course sessions spread over two weekends. Our ski instructors have over 70 years of experience in spreading the joy of skiing to children through play and tailored activities.

Grunnkurs, løypekurs, skøyting, turkurs and ski course for parents are running as planned. Conditions are good for these courses. Slalom, snowboarding, and the snowboard park activities have been postponed due to poor snow conditions in Gråkallparken.

Grunnkurs (for beginners)

This course focuses on fundamental skiing techniques through exercise and play. Down- and uphill techniques are emphasized, and almost everyone experiences significant progress during the course. The course is suitable for children between 5 and 7 years old, either complete beginners or those with some experience. To participate in the course, the child must have turned 5 years old in 2023.

The meeting point and execution take place at Gråkallen Skileik.

Løypekurs (for intermediate)

This course further practices fundamental skiing techniques. There will be more speed on the skis, focusing on gliding better and longer in the trails, as well as skiing and turning down steeper slopes. There will be plenty of play and fun during this course, suitable for children between 7 and 11 years old. Children should have some skiing experience or have attended a basic course before taking the trail course.

Skøytekurs (skate skiing)

This course is designed for children who want to learn more about freestyle technique in cross-country skiing. Alongside plenty of play, fundamental skating techniques are practiced. No special equipment is required for skiing in the skating style during the course, but to execute the skating technique properly, skis must be completely without grip wax. Therefore, waxless (smørefrie) skis cannot be used. The poles should be approximately shoulder height. Suitable for children aged 9 and above who already have a good grasp of the basic skiing skills and preferably have taken a trail course.

Slalåm (alpine skiing)

The slalom course focuses on developing basic skills on alpine skis. For those with minimal skiing experience, the goal is to achieve good control going down the slope and to handle the ski lift independently. For more advanced participants, the goal is to master varied terrain, increase speed, and further develop turning techniques.

The course requires participants to have slalom skis, poles, and a helmet. We recommend that children have some skiing experience or have completed a basic ski technique course before joining. The course is suitable for children aged 7-12.

Participants are divided into groups based on age and skill level for optimal guidance.

Meeting point at Litj-Gråkallen. The course takes place in Gråkallparken.

Snøbrett (snowboard)

The snowboard course focuses on developing basic snowboarding technique. For beginners, emphasis is placed on fall techniques for safe riding and basic turning skills, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience on the slopes. For more advanced participants, the goal is to improve turning technique, master jumps at higher speeds, and gain more control in challenging exercises.

The course requires participants to have a snowboard and helmet, and it is suitable for children aged 7–12 with some prior experience. Participants are divided into groups based on age and skill level for optimal guidance.

Meeting point at Litj-Gråkallen, and the course takes place in Gråkallparken.

Snøbrett Park (snowboard for intermediate)

We practice jumps, rails, and park riding. The course requires children to have a snowboard and a helmet. Suitable for children from 9 years old up to 14 years old (born 2010-2015).

Participants must have good turning technique and solid fundamental snowboarding skills beforehand.

Meeting point at Litj-Gråkallen. The course takes place in Gråkallparken.

Turkurs (excursion course)

The course takes place as a day trip with backpacks in Bymarka and focuses on enjoying the hike while planning what you need in your backpack. The course takes place both on and off prepared trails. During this course, you’ll learn how to boil water, find a good resting spot, make a fire, and create an emergency shelter in a safe manner. Avalanche risk is also a topic covered. The course is suitable for children from 10 years old who enjoy skiing trips.

Remember to bring extra mittens and clothing appropriate for the weather and temperature, as well as drinks and food. Preferably, bring some food that can be prepared over a fire. See the separate packing list for the backpack.

Please note that this hiking course has a different schedule than the other courses, as it spans two full days. In 2025, the hiking course takes place on Sunday, January 19st, and 26th, from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Skikurs for foresatte (ski course for parents)

While the children are at their respective courses, adults can also learn basic skiing techniques. Here, you’ll gain enough knowledge and skills to enjoy skiing trips and playful skiing activities with the kids. We provide ski equipment, ski boots, and poles for rent for those who need them.

The adult courses in 2025 are as follows:

Morning Course (60 minutes) on January 18th, 19st, 25th, and 26th at 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM.
